CrossFit Atlanta requires prospective new members to take an Introductory Course of ten 1 on 1 personal training sessions before graduating into the group workouts. Our experience is that people who are new to CrossFit usually require a great deal of individual attention. This is not a matter of fitness level. It is that the movements we use in CrossFit have to be learned, and learned correctly. Throwing new people directly into the group workouts or after a cursory introduction can be a recipe for confusion and disappointment.
Our Introductory Course consists of a minimum of 10 sessions at $500 for 1 on 1, $400 each for 1 on 2. (If you think you should be allowed to skip some or all of the Introductory Course, see below). This course is more extensive than most, if not all, other introductory CrossFit courses offered in Atlanta. (Click HERE for course outline). We will not do the Introductory Course in large groups because people learn and progress in different ways and at different rates and the large group format does not allow for these differences nor do larger groups permit the individual attention that beginners often require. The intro training sessions are by appointment and can be set up to accommodate almost any schedule. The class content is progressive, and like mathematics, the sessions need to be taken in order.
Each session will last about 1 hour. In the early sessions we will discuss your goals, your experience in fitness, sport, and exercise, your injuries and limitations. We will also begin discussion of nutrition and how to keep a food journal and a workout journal. Each session will introduce new movements and review movements learned in previous classes. Each session will have a workout, followed by stretching and a cool down. Because we believe that people do better and get more out of their experience when they understand why we do what we do, the classes will include discussion of and homework about the method behind the CrossFit madness. Participants will be released to join regular group workouts in the trainer's discretion.
You can book Introductory Course training sessions, including the first one, by appointment. Email or call Dan at 404-862-6580, or email Bethanie.
The cost of the Introductory Course includes membership for the 1st month payable on the day you start. Team, College Student, MIL/LEO/FD discounts are available.
If you think you should be excused from the requirement of the Intro class please contact Dan or Bethanie. An example of someone who might be excused is a person moving to Atlanta who has been a member at another CrossFit affiliate. Another is an athlete who can demonstrate competency in the exercises and movements that we use. If we think you can skip some, but not all of the Intro class sessions, the price will be adjusted accordingly.
